Unedited interview of actor Sir Douglas Fairbanks (Douglas Fairbanks Jr.), about: his start as a movie actor; his early theatre acting; his poor opinion of many of his early films; and the swashbuckling films for which he became famous.~Fairbanks talks about the appeal of his swashbuckling adventure films, saying that films are better as fantasy, a diversion and a soother of the nerves. He admits that drab, kitchen-sink dramas also have a value in helping people realize they are not the only ones in the world with problems and in helping to stimulate ideas.~He also talks about: the plays he has been doing; the play (not named in the interview) in which he is acting in Toronto; the pleasure of acting; and differences in acting for films and the theatre.~About the so-called Golden Age of Hollywood, Fairbanks says Hollywood did not feel it was a golden age at the time. People believed the best films came from Europe although the technical excellence of Hollywood films was recognized. His father created the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to promote research on how to improve movies and Fairbanks says the award, the Oscar, was "never meant to be a circus as it is now". The interview ends with Fairbanks talking about what it was like to grow up with a famous father and how he tried to be different from his father.
