Saker recalls his first job with the company in the drawing office in 1925 for $8 per week, later as Chief Draftsman of the Plate and Miscellaneous Iron Department and as an estimator for the Sales Department. Some of the projects Saker worked on include steel stairs and fire escapes, fire engine trucks, conveyors for General Motors, mining equipment for INCO and marine barges and saddle tanks for transport trucks. As the depression deepened, many of the projects were transferred to the company's Montreal facilities resulting in many layoffs in the Toronto branch. Also discussion of the war work performed by Saker and others include emergency crash trucks for Allied airfields, equipment for Liberty Ships and decompression chambers for pilot testing. Comments on the low wages paid by the company and the downturn in business for the company in the late 1960s round out the interview.Langue :EnglishDétails de l'inventaire : -
