Press conference held by the House of Commons Standing Committee on the Environment represented by Members of Parliament David MacDonald, Marlene Catterall and Jim Fulton announcing the release of its report on global warming and climate change. Opening statements outlining the focus and scope of the report, and responses to questions from the media address the following issues: the global threat posed by chloro-flora carbons (CFCs) to the ozone layer and the development of technology to eliminate this danger; the overall problem of the greenhouse effect; the concept of using tax incentives to reduce industrial environmental damage; the urgency and financial implications of the report's recommendations; and Canada's role in the international process of eliminating CFCs.
