Gray, about a book he is writing about drinking alcohol, and alcohol consumption in present-day society. Gray comments on: the damage caused by drinking, such as illness, traffic accidents and wife-beating; progress in scientific research on alcohol abuse; and the transformation of governments from controllers of liquor consumption in the Prohibition years to that of a seller of liquor. Among the factors Gray cites that encourage alcohol consumption are: the attitude that people must drink on social occasions; alcohol prices; the increasing acceptability of drinking among for women; the lowering of the drinking age; and how advertising makes alcohol seem attractive. Gray concludes with some recommendations on how to reduce alcohol consumption in today's society.Langue :EnglishRemarques :Détails de l'inventaire : -
