Corson had a palatial summer home in the area and lived there with his wife Julia. In 1938, the Canadian government expropriated the Corson's land to create Cape Breton Highlands National Park.~Donovan also talks about his family history, the rough roads and other difficult means of transportation, the neighbourliness of the people in the community and the poverty. He sings parts of old songs that the people sang at community concerts, their chief form of recreation, including "To This Isle of Cape Breton". In 1948, the government built a highway into village. Before this, the community was quite isolated. In 1923, Ingonish received no mail for 23 days. It became more difficult for people to earn a living in Ingonish and many residents moved away to find work, including a number who went to Boston.Langue :EnglishRemarques :Détails de l'inventaire : -
