Canada. Ministry of State, Science and Technology. International Division : International Division was one of three divisions that became a part of the Government Branch following a significant reorganization of Ministry of State for Science and Technology (MOSST) in 1975. The International Division was responsible for attempting to create a synthesis of Canadian domestic information in the area of scientific and technological activities, as well as interpreting the significance of international initiatives on domestic science and technology programs. Known earlier as International Affairs (1971-1973), International Affairs Branch (1973-1974), and Cooperation Branch (1974-1975), the structure of the International Division remained relatively stable until it was dissolved in 1983. In 1979, MOSST concluded an agreement with the European Space Agency. As a result of this agreement Canada became a financial contributor to this multilaterial agency and a participant in some of its projects. Following a reorganization in 1988, an International Relations unit was created within the Industry and Intergovernmental Relations Sector. Organization of the Government of Canada, 1978/79, p.426
