Fonds consists of 4 albums of letters, research notes and reference material. The letters are from James A. Pike, a noted philatelist, as well as other dealers and collectors, and they pertain to British Columbia philately, postal history and Houser's interests and purchases. The research notes concern B.C. post offices and postal history. The reference material concerns B.C. stampless covers. The fonds also consists of 2 boxes of notes and articles on B.C. post offices, postmarks and postal history and 1 copy of George H. Melvin's book, Post Offices of British Columbia with additional notes on B.C. post offices.

Houser, Jacque : Jacque Houser is a professionally trained engineer. He began practicing right after graduating from the University of Michigan. He had been employed as either a engineer or teacher for his entire career. Many of these years were spent with the Boeing Company in Seattle.

Houser became interested in stamp collecting as a young boy reading Boys Life and American Boy. At first he did not take his collecting seriously but by the 1940's he began to collect and research issues of Austria. By 1950, he had turned his focus from stamps to the study of postal history. Then, in 1960, he began studying the postmarks and Post Offices of British Columbia created before they joined the Dominion of Canada and at the end of the Victorian period. Houser presented these areas of study in articles he wrote for Topics.

His collection of postmarks provides a description of all postmarks used by the offices operating during this period. Another one of Houser's interests was carrier marks of Canada. His membership in philatelic organizations reflects his interest in postal history. Jacques Houser was a member of the British North America Philatelic Society, The Collectors Club of New York, Canadian Philatelic Society of Great Britain, United States Philatelic Classics Society, Western Cover Society, and the American Philatelic Congress.
