Sub-series consists of records created and maintained by the Canadian Northern Pacific Railway Company and includes minutes, 1910-1956, stock, bond and mortgage records, 1910-1939, contracts and agreements, 1910-1915, land and right of way records, 1910-1917, and payrolls, 1914-1916.

Cartographic material consists of a portion of direct transfer #30: (RG30, vol. 2424-2429) right of way plans for the Canadian Northern Pacific Railway, items #1-7 (6 maps from New Westminster Bridge to Birch Island, and an unbound atlas of township plans) (RG30M 70/1798).

Canadian Northern Pacific Railway Company : The Canadian Northern Pacific Railway Company was incorporated under British Columbia Act, 10 Edward VII, Cap. 4 of 10 March 1910 to construct and operate railway lines through the province of British Columbia, including Vancouver Island. A total of 729.74 miles of railway were built under this charter. This included the 500 mile main line from the Yellowhead Pass to Vancouver, a branch to Kamloops in the Okanagan region and over one hundred miles on Vancouver Island. In addition, major undertakings were given the City of Vancouver, one of which, the Hotel Vancouver was completed in 1939. The company was transferred by Mackenzie and Mann in 1914 to the Canadian Northern Railway Company. On 8 June 1954 the Canadian Northern Pacific Railway Company joined with 11 other companies to become Canadian Northern Consolidated Railways which merged with the Canadian National Railway Company in 1956. RG30M 70/1798 was transferred in March 1970 from the Government Archives Division. It was a portion of direct transfer #30: (RG30, vol. 2424-2429) right of way plans for the Canadian Northern Pacific Railway, items #1-7 (part of four direct transfers made by CN in 1965 and 1966).
