Series consists of the records of P-K Mills Ltd. and its operating firms, Maitland Knitting Mills Ltd., and Maitland Spinning Mills Ltd. The records of P-K Mills Ltd. consist of legal records which document the establishment of the company in 1928. Other records in the series include the corporate minutebooks, financial statements and a stock book which provides information on the company as a subsidiary of Mercury Mills. Maitland Knitting Mills Ltd. records include the corporate minutebook, financial statements, information on shareholders and tax records. Maitland Spinning Mills Ltd. records include legal agreements and corporate returns, which provide basic information on company administration and operations. Maps document the location and layout of the mill sites. Additional financial and administrative records relating to the three companies can be found in the records of Mercury Mills Ltd.

P-K Mills : P-K Mills Ltd. was established in 1928 as a subsidiary of Mercury Mills. It was the successor company to the partnership P-K Mills, Listowel, and the Perfect-Knit Mills Ltd., which was established in Listowel, Ontario in 1913. Both Maitland Knitting and Maitland Spinning were incorporated in 1928 as subsidiaries of P-K Mills Ltd (and thus Mercury Mills). Operating out of two separate facilities in Listowel, the Maitland companies produced commercial and hand knitting yarns. P-K Mills Ltd. sold its assets to Mercury Mills in 1940, and surrendered its charter in 1943. Maitland Knitting also ceased to operate in 1943. Maitland Spinning became an operating division of Mercury Mills in 1942, and was sold to Spinrite Yarns and Dyers Ltd. in 1952.
