Newsreel coverage of the visit of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip to Halifax, Nova Scotia. At Citadel Hill, the Queen arrives by motorcade to a crowd of spectators. She inspects the Royal Canadian Navy Guard of Honour, accompanied by Rear Admiral William Pugsley and presents new colours to a RCN subaltern kneeling before her. At the University of Kings College, the Queen and Prince Philip are greeted by the rector and are shown the Royal Admiralty Barge displayed on stocks. Prime Minister John G. Diefenbaker arrives at the residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia followed by other dignitaries including George Hees, Ellen Fairclough, and George Pearkes. Diefenbaker poses for photographers with the Queen, Prince Philip, and senior Cabinet members, and is shown speaking to the press. The Queen and Prince Philip arrive at the Nova Scotian Hotel where they are greeted by Olive and John G. Diefenbaker, Robert Stanfield, and Governor General Vincent Massey. The film concludes with the royal departure on a BOAC jetliner. <14mn>
