Scottish newsreel coverage of Prime Minister John G. Diefenbaker's trip to Edinborough, Scotland. Shot of Diefenbaker being interviewed by Scottish newspaper reporters preceeds lengthy coverage of a banquet given in the Prime Minister's honour at The Edinborough Hotel. Canadian-born media tycoon Roy Thomson and Dame Catherine Elliot greet guests including Scottish television directors, government officials, and peers. Also present is the Prime Minister's wife, Olive Diefenbaker; Elmer Diefenbaker, brother of the Prime Minister; and Canadian High Commissioner to Great Britain, George Drew. Excerpts of various toasts and speeches follow. Next is a sequence on the Diefenbakers' visit to Edinborough City Chambers, to Edinborough Castle where the Prime Minister inspects the Royal Artillery Guard of Honour and is shown the Nova Scotia plaque, and a visit to St. Giles Cathedral. <22mn>
