This is a preliminary record, please consult the linked accessions. Series consists records created and/or maintained by the Seaway International Bridge Corporation Limited. The series includes a variety of personal files as retained by R.G. Armstrong, former Secretary of the SIBCL, a subsidiary of The St. Lawrence Seaway Authority. Subjects of note include incorporation of The Seaway International Bridge Corporation, Ltd. as a private company (1962), the disposal of Cornwall International Bridge corporate lands in the U.S., the issuance of First Nations courtesy bridge passes, the effect of toll increases on traffic volume, Bridge Management Committee Meetings, Auditor General's Reports (1963-1978), 1932 charter establishing the Cornwall International Bridge Company Limited and the liquidation of the Company (1962-68).

The series also includes a combined Board of Directors minute book, stock ledger, register of stock transfers and directors and shareholders lists for the Cornwall International Bridge Company Limited (1949-1954), as well as consolidated Board of Directors/Shareholders minute books of the CIBCL/The Seaway International Bridge Corporation Limited for the years 1957 to 1988.

Seaway International Bridge Corporation, Ltd. (Canada) : When the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway was undertaken, the Cornwall International Bridge Company Limited, a share capital company, incorporated under the Dominion Companies Act, was operating an international toll bridge for vehicular and pedestrian traffic across the St. Lawrence River between Cornwall, Ontario and Rooseveltown, New York. The Corporation occupied under lease, the north and south channel low-level spans of the then New York Central Railway Bridge. These installations were acquired from the Railway by The St. Lawrence Seaway Authority and the Saint Lawrence Development Corporation [SLSDC] (United States) in connection with navigational requirements.

By way of P.C.1957-1306, the SLSA, in conjunction with the SLSDC, acquired the shares of the Cornwall International Bridge Company, Limited and assumed joint management of the Company. In 1958, the low level bridge was replaced with a new high level south channel span. The railway bridge containing the swing span between Cornwall and Cornwall Island was replaced by a new high level north channel span in 1962. That same year, by way of P.C. 1962-1486, the Seaway International Bridge Company Limited was incorporated as a subsidiary of The St. Lawrence Seaway Authority for the purpose of operating and managing the international bridge system between Cornwall, Ontario and Rooseveltown, New York, on behalf of the owners.
