Interview by Marjorie Robinson of Dr. A. E. Perry of Regina, Saskatchewan who talks about his experiences as a labourer-teacher for Frontier College in 1924, 1926, 1927 and 1928. Perry recalls his work in 1924 at a railroad camp north of Cochrane, Ontario where he was laying track for the James Bay extension of the Timiskaming and Northern Ontario Railroad. Continuing with 1926 and 1927, Perry recounts his assignment at The Fraser Brothers Lumber Company at Plaster Rock, New Brunswick where he worked in the mill and organized the sports and recreational activities for the workers and their families in the community. In 1927 Perry worked at the Abernethy & Lougheed Logging Company, Camp #3, at Alouette Lake, British Columbia as a "spark chaser", the person responsible for fire prevention and finally, in 1928 at the Canadian National Railway camp at Cedar Lake in Algonquin Park, Ontario where the labourers were relaying track. Noteworthy discussion of the various working and living conditions at the several camps focusing on the food, accomodations, heavy physical labour and the long working hours. Comments on his attempts to organize classes, the teaching supplies furnished by Frontier College and Perry's recollections of Dr. Edmund Bradwin, former principal of Frontier College round out the interview.
