Series consists of a bound statement on behalf of citizens of Vancouver Island to the Right Honourable R. L. Borden and Members of the Government regarding their desire to urge upon the government the immediate need for the construction of a series of bridges from mainland BC to Vancouver Island. Accompanying memorial relating to bridging Seymour Narrows includes the following: an extract from BC Government Gazette, 6 July 1873 and other papers establishing definite location of Esquimalt as Pacific Terminus of CPR Railway; despatches and reports from the Government of BC protesting against a breach of the Terms of Union; extracts from the " Location of the line and a Western Terminal Harbour (Maclean Roger & Co.)"; a report of a speech by Hon. Richard McBride; an extract from the report of Sir Sanford Fleming, 26 Jan 1874; a report of H. P. Bell on bridging Seymour Narrows, 11 Sept 1906; the opinion of English Railway Magnates as to the Pacific Railway terminals; the estimated cost of bridging Seymour Narrows by Homer Hilton; a comparative statement - tonnage of shipping at Port of Victoria and other Canadian ports; and an article by C.H. Lugrin.
