Canada. Parliament. House of Commons. Select Committee Appointed to Inquire into Conditions of Port Stanley Harbour at the Time it was Transferred to the Trustee for the London and Port Stanley Railway Company : On 13 April 1874, a seven member Select Committee of Parliament was appointed to inquire into the conditions of Port Stanley Harbour, Ontario, at the time it was transferred to the Trustee for the London and Port Stanley Railway Company. The chairman of the committee was George Elliot Casey. In addition to reviewing the conditions of the harbour, the committee was also asked to examine the "sub-sequent management of Affairs [sic] of the said Harbor [sic], including the collection and disposition of tolls, and the receipt and expenditure of all other funds; and the present condition and requirement of the said Harbor [sic]."

The Committee presented its report to the House 23 May 1874 and recommended that the harbour be dredged. The report also mentions that while the current manager, the Great Western Railway Company, had made many positive improvements, the public would be better served if control of the Harbour was not left in the hands of a single company. 1874 Journals of the House of Commons
