Photographs taken by George Pearce (1901-1979) and Jean Pearce (1901-1960) throughout their lives, particularly as part of their participation in London Fotoforum, including slaon prints for various photographic exhibitions; albums of family photographs relating to the Pearce family in Wales and in Canada; 12 photographs by other photographs acquired by the Pearces during their lives. Also contains copy negative by George A. Pearce of "Darkroom self-portrait" mounted chlorobromide salon print, exhibited at the Sixth Annual Canadian Salon of Photography, Hamilton, Ontario, 1939; and at the Sydney Photo Forum, Sydney, N.S. 1941.

Pearce, George A., 1901-1979 : George A. Pearce, businessman, amateur photographer. Born 1901-06-08 Machynlleth, Montgomeryshire, Wales. Flourished London, Ont., 1922-1979. With his wife Jean, Pearce helped found the FotoForum group (London, Ont.) in 1937. Both became associates of the Royal Photographic Society (ca. 1938-1939). George prized a series of prints he produced of the Chapel of the Mohawks, Brantford, Ont. Died 1979-03-03 London, Ont.

Works located in: National Archives of Canada; private collection.

Exhibition(s): 1925-1955 C, various salons, particularly in Britain (group). 1983, Private Realms of Light, PAC, Ottawa, Ont.

The photographs were located in the house occupied by George and Jean Pearce from about 1932 until their respective deaths; and subsequently by George's second wife Jane, until her death in 1994.

Prints are arranged, to the extent possible, as the work of George Pearce or as the work of Jean Pearce. However, because many of the prints and negatives cannot be credited to one or the other of the two, there is no separation of these. The FotoForum material is arranged as a separate series.
