1 collage cut and/or pasteLangue du document :anglaisPortée et contenu :Series consists of, predominantly, Christmas cards received by Carl Schaefer and his wife by many well-known Canadian artists and friends. Artists include Leonard Hutchinson, Lowrie Warrener, André Bieler, Kathleen Daly Pepper and Fritz Brandtner. Works by Schaefer include two bookplate designs; four sketches executed for Canada Packers; a large John Inglis drawing; several small sketches of the Hanover landscape, buildings and farm implements; a rough sketch for an engraving; and miscellaneous works.
Series also consists of: two proofs of the etching "Cap and Mittens"; one quick on-the-spot portrait of a cellist, mid-concert; two hand-drawn maps relating to a 1927 painting trip; one sketchbook containing two botanical sketches; two celebratory cards relating to personal events; one sheet containing three sketches by Schaefer, two of the "Johnson House, Hanover" and one of a pumpstand; one transfer drawing entitled "The Silent City, London", 1943-47" and a second "The Prime Minister's Ruins, Kingsmere" 1947; and a sheet containing seven images, predominantly landscapes.
Series includes two souvenir drawings by Schaefer's colleagues, one which contains a portrait of Schaefer by J. Langford Enslin.
