She recalls the night of February 18, 1942, when two American navy ships, the destroyer Truxton and the Pollux, a supply ship, ran aground near the village during a storm. She also describes: the efforts by the townspeople to rescue the men on the ships; the generosity of the people in giving clothing and food to the survivors; and the photographs she took of the ships and the disaster scene, photographs that were used by newspapers in Canada and the United States because no other photographer was present. She talks about the vivid memories people have of the disaster and a recent visit to St. Lawrence by one of the survivors.Langue :EnglishRemarques :Détails de l'inventaire : -
