Fonds consists of papers concerning the Wartime Information Board, 1942-1945, the Bureau of Current Affairs, 1951-1957, and the Dominion Coal Board, 1957-1968.

Fonds also includes photographs with views of the colleries at Lethbridge and Canmore, Alta.; views of the Dominion Coal Board, Ottawa, Ont., and a portrait of Hon. J. Watson MacNaught, P.C. O.C., n.d..

The fonds also includes maps of Canada and Canadian provinces; most are topographic maps done for federal government departments; some are thematic relating to agricultural and geology, 1940-1967.

Mc Cracken, George W., ca. 1905- : George W. McCracken joined the public service following a term as editor and managing editor of the Kingston Whig-Standard. He came to the Wartime Information Board at its inception in 1942. He was subsequently editor of Current Affairs, published by the Bureau of Current Affairs, Department of National Defence 1951-1957, and Secretary of the Dominion Coal Board 1957-1968.
