Culberson is part of a family potato business, which takes the potato from seed right through to the supermarket. He explains the economics of modern survival in farming by growing and expanding and controlling as much of the process as possible. His mother completes the interview indoors, describing her role as family book-keeper and guiding the family in its gaining control of the valley.
