Sub-series consists of files pertaining to the operation of the Minister's Office during the period when Charles Caccia was the Minister of Labour (1981-1983). The records touch on a wide range of departmental concerns and mandated responsibilities in which the Minister's Office was involved; these include official visits, departmental programmes, Labour Canada's Women's Bureau, public relations and other matters.

Caccia, Charles, 1930-2008 : Carletto Caccia, economist and member of Parliament, born in 1930 at Milano, Italy, graduated in the Economics of Forestry at the University of Vienna, and came to Canada in 1955. He settled in Toronto, where he opened an office for market research. He held an Aldermanic seat on City of Toronto Council, 1964-1969.

He was first elected to the House of Commons, representing Davenport in 1968 and re-elected in 1972, 1974, 1979, 1980, 1984, 1988, 1993 and 1997. He served as Chairman of the Committee of Labour, Manpower and Immigration, 1968-1969, Parliamentary Secretary to the solicitor, President of the Treasury Board, and Minister of Manpower and Immigration, 1967-1971. He was Chairman of the Ontario Caucus, 1977-1978, appointed a Member of the Privy Council, 1981, and became Minister of Labour, 1981, and then Minister of the Environment, 1983.

He was one of the founders of COSTI and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Toronto General Hospital.
