Canada. Canadian Armed Forces. Combat Training Centre (Gagetown, N.B.) : The Combat Arms School (CAS) was formed on 24 November 1966 at CFB Borden with the amalgamation of the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps School and the Royal Canadian School of Infantry. The role of CAS was to conduct armoured and infantry training for all ranks in accordance with approved tactical doctrine as dictated by Training Command. Established on 15 March 1968, the Royal Canadian School of Artillery at CFB Shilo was mandated to provide artillery training in field branch artillery, air defence artillery and nuclear target analysis. In February 1970 the schools were redesignated from Royal Canadian to Canadian Forces. The CAS, the Francophone training detachment at CFB Valcartier - l'éecole des armes de combat, and the Canadian Forces School of Artillery were relocated from Training Command to Mobile Command on 1 May 1970. Later that year, the CAS and the CF School of Artillery were amalgamated and moved to CFB Gagetown on 1 September. On 15 May 1976 the Combat Training Centre (CTC) was formed and allocated to Mobile Command; it was tasked to provide individual combat arms training in accordance with approved doctrine, train combat ready land forces and plan operational support tasks as directed by the Commander Mobile Command. The Combat Training Centre was restructured on 11 January 1978 and amalgamated the Combat Arms School and the former Combat Training Centre. It continued to conduct individual combat arms training in accordance with approved doctrine. Restructured on 1 July 1987, the role of battle included: Combat Training Centre Headquarters, Armour School, Field Artillery School, Air Defence Artillery School and Infantry School. On 4 September 1992 the CTC was allocated to the newly formed Land Forces Atlantic Area.

Headquartered in Camp Gagetown, the Combat Training Centre (CTC) falls under the chain of command of Land Force Doctrine and Training System (LFDTS).
