Conference supervisor Fred Keating precedes this Banff Television Festival "housekeeping notes" on festival events. This exercise in market simulation is chaired by Paterson Ferns, President of the Banff Television Foundation and of Primedia Productions, Canada. On stage with Ferns is European critic [Robert Buckman], who comments on Canadian television and the trend towards coproductions. The four 'case studies' on television projects involve each presenter describing their project in terms of: its concept; genre; form; expected market; budget; distribution plans; anticipated financing; progress on the project; negotiations with broadcasters; and strategies for marketing. Ferns take his microphone into the audience to get feedback on each project from private, public and international representatives in the television industry. The four test projects and their 'working titles' are: ["B"], a futuristic feature film, presented by Suzanne Hénaut, Films Vision 4, Québec; ["Aviation in the North"], three one-hour documentaries, presented by Les Harris, Canamedia, Ontario; ["Pop Power"], planned as six hour-long films based on the themes of popular songs, presented by Lavinia Warner and Jane Wellesley of the Warner Sisters, London, United Kingdom and ["Dream Meadow"], conceptualized as a series for children combining elements of fantasy, adventure and nature, presented by Eda Lishman, Vice-President, The Producers, Alberta, Canada. Two presenters screen excerpts of related work: "Dizzy Heart", directed by Carlos Ferrand and the pilot for "Aviation in the North". <180mn>
