The Brotherhood of Railway Carmen of Canada merged with the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union on 29 May 1990.

For volumes 344 to 397 (i.e. the "general" files), the files are in alphabetical order by company name; the file titles often provide the local union(s), location(s), and other details. (Note that companies incorporating a surname are filed according to the surname, e.g. "R.J. Simpson Manufacturing Company" is filed under "Simpson"; and that companies with French names are filed under the first significant word, e.g. "La Société & Asbestonos Ltée" is filed under "Asbestonos.") Files on UAW intra-corporation councils are filed directly after the files on the related company (e.g. the "International Harvester Council" file appears directly after the International Harvester company files).
