Series consists of galleys as well as page proofs with some typescript pages of Strange Fugitive; original typescript with manuscript revisions of It's Never Over; original typescript with manuscript revisions, as well as a carbon typescript, of No Man's Meat; working manuscripts of A Broken Journey; manuscript outline and working manuscript of Such Is My Beloved; working manuscripts of They Shall Inherit the Earth; working manuscript and original typescript with manuscript revisions of More Joy in Heaven; original typescript with manuscript revisions and fragment of galleys of Luke Baldwin's Vow; working manuscript and publisher's typed manuscript of The Varsity Story; and original typescript with manuscript revisions and working manuscript of A Fine and Private Place.

There are extensive working manuscripts and final or publisher's typed manuscripts, and in some cases galleys, for The Loved and the Lost, The Many-Coloured Coat, A Passion in Rome, That Summer in Paris, A Fine and Private Place, Close to the Sun Again, No Man's Meat and the Enchanted Pimp, A Time for Judas, Our Lady of the Snows, A Wild Old Man on the Road and They Shall Inherit the Earth.

The first accession is arranged chronologically by title of novel or memoir, with the material relating to each title arranged in progressive order (it should be noted that there is a fair amount of uncollated, unorganized material). The second accession is arranged by the box order as presented at the time of donation. Oversize galleys of Strange Fugitive are stored in vol. 49. Oversize galleys of The Loved and the Lost are stored in vol. 65. Oversize proof of A Passion in Rome is stored in vol. 65. Oversize galleys of That Summer in Paris is stored in vol. 65.
