Morris Goldfish (Ricardo Cortez), the son of a Jewish emigrant family living on Delancey Street, becomes a successful Fifth Avenue antique dealer and, changing his name to Fish, takes his parents out of the East Side and installs them in his swank apartment. His father becomes ill, longing for the old neighborhood. Birdie marries her childhood sweetheart. When he is sent to jail, Morris kicks Birdie out of his apartment. The elder Goldfish dies, and his wife returns to Delancey Street to be with Birdie, whose husband is soon released from jail.
