This is a program in a 10-part half-hour series described in the broadcasts as a catalogue devoted to the exploration of the moving image in the last decade. This program features clips of the following productions: a 1983 video by Canadian video artist Susan Britton, entitled FREEZE FRAME, described as a "fast-paced look at the perils of modern life"; a 3-minute excerpt of the 1976 film AURA-GONE, by Nova Scotia film-maker Neal Livingston, using a still shot to document "the movements of a city seen in a multi-layered reflection of the street"; a 3-minute excerpt of a 1984 video entitled MCKEE AND ME, by Toronto video producer Scott Dobson. It uses sound and video images to create a nostalgic view of childhood; a short excerpt from the end of the film WOODBRIDGE, by Toronto film-maker Steven Sanguedolce, about the making of a family photograph; a 3-minute excerpt from the 1987 videotape WHITE STUDIO TAPES, a performance-poem about lost love by Winnipeg artist Nelson Henricks, the 1984 videotape THE WEST IS ALIVE, by German video artist Klaus vom Bruch, about a man and a woman playfully and then aggressively embracing and kissing; and finally, a 4-minute excerpt of the 1986 film AUSTRALIAN BUSH, which combines still shots of animals with location footage of the Blue Mountains of Australia. German born film-maker Paul Winkler uses his invention, the Matte Box Image Shifter, to create a travelling matte effect, permitting the insertion of images or parts of images without moving boundaries of other images.
