Series consists of correspondence with writer Jean LeMoyne and poet Gertrude LeMoyne relating to Glassco's Canada Council Arts Fellowship and other subjects; correspondence of an introspective nature with poet Al Purdy including Purdy and Glassco poems, volume 1; correspondence with Michael Gnarowski, 1962-1971, Ralph Gustafson, 1962-1972, and Geoffrey Wagner, 1966-1974, volume 4; correspondence concerning an Anthem for the Centennial of Canadian Confederation, 1966, and the Colloque Saint-Denys-Garneau, 1968-1970, volume 8.
Additional material consists of both incoming and outgoing correspondence with publishers, journalists, granting bodies, the media, writers, friends and others. Important correspondents include Margaret Atwood, Kay Boyle, Earle Birney, Morley Callaghan, Louis Dudek, Leon Edel, Eldon Grier, Daryl Hine, Irving Layton, Louis Muhlstock, Hugh MacLennan, Michael Ondaatje, P.K. Page, Al Purdy, James Reaney, Mordecai Richler, F.R. Scott, A.J.M. Smith, Raymond Souster, Andrey Thomas, Geoffrey Wagner, and George Woodcock. Northern Journey files contain information relating to the allegedly libellous story "Slow Burn" published in the October 1973 issue of that periodical (vols. 12-14).
Additional material consists of one holograph letter from Ethel Moorhead, one typed, signed letter from her on This Quarter letterhead, and an acceptance notice from This Quarter 1929; misellaneous correspondence 1949-[1979] including a copy of Glassco's letter 1971 to Seymour Mayne offering extracts from his commonplace book for Ingluvin, with a typescript of the extracts; correspondence and memoranda relating to the Foster Horse Show 1959-1968; and correspondence with American artists Philip Core 1972 and Robert Huber 1976-1979 regarding illustrations for Fetish Girl and "Jupiter Sonnets", respectively (oversize illustrations are filed in horizontal storage Mss) (vols. 17, 19).
Additional material includes correspondence with Philip Core 1967-1970, relating to illustrations for the Temple of Pederasty, Squire Hardman and Mairobert. A second file, dated 1969-1974, contains correspondence relating to the publication of The Temple of Pederasty, including correspondence from Brian Kirby of Essex House Publishers, Harold Straubing of Brandon House, Robert Reitman of Jaybird Publications and American Art Enterprises, and from the Canadian Department of National Revenue, Customs and Excise. Both files of correspondence include drafts of John Glassco's outgoing letters (vol. 20).
