This sub-series comprises records relating to Casey House Hospice for AIDS patients and its fundraising arm, Casey House Foundation. Callwood identified the need for a hospice to provide palliative care for AIDS sufferers in Toronto and founded Casey House, named after her late son, in 1987 to address that need. Her files for Casey House document the effort to develop and sustain a caregiving facility for men with AIDS, treatments and practices in AIDS/HIV palliative care, and larger issues of attitudes toward homosexuality in Canadian society. The sub-series holds minutes of the Board of Directors and Annual General Meetings; budgets and financial statements; annual reports; press releases and publicity pamphlets; clippings of media coverage; discussion papers; training manuals for volunteers; issues of newsletters "Casey House Connection" and "Window"; and texts of speeches, including her notes for the opening on March 1st, 1988. Specific issues include renovations of Casey House; affiliation of the hospice with St. Michael's Hospital; fundraising from private donors; securing funding from the Ontario Ministry of Health and the Department of National Health and Welfare; the work of the AIDS committee of Toronto; development of public relations policies and activities; special events such as benefit concerts and the 15th anniversary celebration in 2003; and documentary film projects about Casey House. The latter material includes negotiations and contracts with the CBC; correspondence with Christopher Lowry of Richmond Productions concerning the making of "Hospice"; and correspondence with Lyle Slack and his script outline for "The House that June Built".
Casey House Foundation was established in 1992 to coordinate fundraising for the hospice. Its records document its organizational structure, by-laws, committees and terms of reference, financial position, goals and objectives, special events, personnel staffing, home hospice program, and care available for people with AIDS living at home. The files contain minutes of meetings of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and other committees; financial statements; vision and mission statements; and a program review of the foundation done by Ketchum Canada.
