This documentary profiles two leading politicians on the U.S. political scene: Democratic Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Republican gubernatorial candidate Ronald Reagan. Host Philip Deane discusses the concept of the "American Dream" which is predominantly held by upper and middle-income Americans. He argues that the idealistic nature of the "American Dream" (freedom, comfort, security and the pursuit of happiness) is threatened by a number of social problems afflicting American society (racial inequality, poverty, unemployment, violence). This program features interview segments with Kennedy, Reagan, Hal Everett (a political image maker), and an unnamed advocate of Black Power. <1h>
