Silent and sound footage depicting highlights from nine decades in the life of British Statesman Sir Winston Churchill, on the occasion of his ninetieth birthday. Notable sequences include: stills of Churchill as a young boy and soldier; in 1911 as Home Secretary at the 'Siege of Sidney Street' where anarchists barricade themselves in a London house; naval division march past in London where Edward, Prince of Wales takes the salute; United States General John Pershing decorating officers in London; and shots of Churchill with King George V, Prime Minister David Lloyd George and members of his cabinet. Additional clips depict: Churchill at fifty as Chancellor of the Exchequer leaving Downing Street with his daughter; Churchill painting with close-up shots of three works; aerial shot of the French Maginot Line; shot of Adolf Hitler; excerpt of a 1938 speech; with U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Russian leader Joseph Stalin at the 1945 Yalta Conference; touring bomb-damaged London in 1940; visiting troops in North Africa; excerpt from his 'Iron Curtain' speech; landing at Normandy in 1944 where Churchill is greeted by Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery; receiving the Order of the Garter; Westminster Hall in 1954 where Churchill receives a portrait and signed book from the British Members of Parliament; exterior shot of Blenheim Palace; U.S. President John F. Kennedy declaring Churchill an honourary American citizen with shots of passport documents; and clip of Churchill at home with his wife Lady Clementine Churchill sorting through birthday telegrams.
