Non-broadcast interview held by Mavor Moore in preparation for his CBC arts series PERFORMANCE, of which he is host. At the planning session for an international arts symposium to be held at the Banff School of Fine Arts, Karol Malcuzynski, the Polish delegate, is interviewed about the role of the artist in Poland - currently and traditionally, and the existing tension between cultural bureaucrats and artists in his country. Also shown are views of Banff and the Banff Centre. Also interviewed is Henry Tayali, the Zambian delegate (a painter and sculptor) who talks about the nature of African culture on the continental scale; changes taking place in Africa; African economic conditions and the impact of foreign cultural distribution systems on African culture. Mr. Tayali is also recorded during an outdoor stroll with Mavor Moore. <8mn>
