Fonds consists of an unpublished wartime manuscript, 1944, entitled Tyros Skyward, illustrated with 30 photographs, relating John Gordon MacCormack,s experiences as a flying instructor at No. 4 Elementary Flying Training School, Windsor Mills, Quebec, 1941-1942. Correspondence, 1944-1945, with prospective publishers is included with the manuscript.

Fonds also consists of photographic material depicting views of various military aircraft used by the R.C.A.F. in Eastern Canada during 1941-1942, including the Avro Anson, Bristol, Bolingbroke, Cessna Crane, Fleet Finch, Handley Page, Hampden, Hawker Hurrican, North American Harvard, Lockheed Hudson, and North American Mitchell.

In addition, fonds includes moving image recordings. Titles include: Sports review #1; Knights with Wings; and St. Margaret Ski Club championship. Also included are out-takes from the film Knights with Wings.

MacCormack, John Gordon, fl. 1889 : John Gordon MacCormack, Air Force Officer, served as a civilian and later RCAF flying instructor with the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan in Canada during the Second World War.

Acquired in 1973 from Dr. W.L. Ball of Ottawa, in 1976 from John Gordon MacCormack of Maitland, Ontario, via Barry Roxburg of Ottawa and in 1983 and 1992 from Gordon MacCormack.
