Law, Henry Edward, 1883-1964 : Henry (Harry) Edward Law (1883-1964) was born in Vauxhall, Lambeth, England, the elder son of William Edward Law and Mercy Jane Togwell Holmes Law. He emigrated to Canada in 1892 and lived in Baysville, Muskoka District, Ontario. He worked in various stores in various towns before moving to Kingston, c.1903, where he joined the military (Royal Canadian Horse Artillery and later, the Medical Corps). In 1907, he quit the military because his fiancé's parents did not want her to marry a soldier. In 1907, he married Ada Lena Gage (1885-1973). The issue of this marriage was one girl and two boys (one of whom died young).

Law enlisted again in 1908, and served overseas during World War I. His family joined him in England from 1916-1918. He retired from the military in 1933 with the rank of Captain. He returned to Kingston where he sold insurance and taught school. He also taught in Shawinigan Falls and Verdun in Quebec. At 65 years, he returned to Kingston and became involved with the Kingston Horticultural Society, both as president and as a judge at flower shows.

Black, John, 1788-1857 : John Black (1788-1857) married Helen Hunter (1789-1856) in Scotland. They emigrated to Canada in 1817 along with their three children, and moved to Prince Edward County. They eventually settled in Sophiasburgh Township. Six more children were born to them, making a total of nine - three boys and six girls.
