Rebroadcast by the CBC television series HUMAN CAMERA of an ABC TV broadcast of the Drew Associates Inc. documentary film recording an actual moment in history. It is an account of a chief of state in the middle of a crisis. The chief of state being US President John F. Kennedy and the crisis being the defiance by Governor George Wallace of Alabama, of a federal court order to allow two black students entrance to the University of Alabama in June of 1963. This film captures the key personalities involved in the crisis, in real life action in their moments of consultation with staff. It takes one behind the scenes to view political figures discussing strategies to use in the crisis. Footage in this film includes: John F. Kennedy's television address on racial equality as a moral issue; Robert Kennedy in his home with his children in Virginia and later in his office with advisors; Governor George Wallace in his home in Montgomery, Alabama and later in his office with advisors; Vivian Malone and James Hood, the two black students, being briefed on the situation; the actual confrontation between Deputy Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach and Governor Wallace at the University doors; the sending in of the National Guard; and the conclusion of the crisis. <60mn>
