Canadian Association of Sport Sciences : The Canadian Association of Sport Sciences was created in 1967 as a pre-requisite for Canada to be host of the Pan-American Games. The organizational Committee of C.A.S.S. consisted of members of the nucleus committee of the Canadian Medical Association-Canadian Association of Health, Physical Education and Recreation along with other individuals.

The objectives were to establish an association of professional persons interested in the scientific aspects of sports and fitness in Canada as well as to promote and advance medical and other scientific studies dealing with the effect of sports and other physical activities on the health of human beings at various stages of life. It was also created to co-operate with other organizations, to organize scientific meetings, to encourage the circulation of information and to represent members of this Association with government and other national and international organizations, in the field of sport and fitness.
