Item is a microfilmed copy of the Report of proceedings of the British House of Commons on the Quebec bill, 26 May - 13 June 1774. The more notable of the speakers in the debates include the Prime Minister, Frederick, Lord North; the Attorney and Solicitor Generals; Edmund Burke; and Charles James Fox. The topics discussed include the boundaries of Quebec, its laws and judicial system, religion and taxation. This material is located on microfilm reels A-873 to A-874.

Textual records (Papier) Finding Aid No. 599 provides a table of contents for the material in the order in which it was filmed. Each volume is prefaced by a table of contents and index of speakers' names, which are separately paginated. MSS599 (90: Ouvert)

Historique de la conservation :

Egerton Manuscripts 259-262 were added to the holdings of the British Library in 1832. They comprise 48 quarto volumes, written partly in a simple and easily deciphered short-hand with many short blanks, which contain reports of the debates of the British House of Commons, 10 May 1768 - 13 June 1774. In 1972, the National Archives of Canada purchased a microfilm copy of the last four volumes of the collection, which relate to the passing of the Quebec Act in 1774.
