Fonds consists of prints of souvenir postcard booklets of Canada.

Fonds also consists of photographs which depict a statue of Sir John Franklin, Spilsby, England; model of Sir John Franklin's ship the H.M.S. Erebus; Roald Amundsen's ship GJOA, Oslo; Churchill, Manitoba; cruises in the schooner Victory Chimes; eagles in zoos at Charlesburg, Granby, and New York City; transportation steamships Richelieu and the St. Lawrence showing views of the music and observation rooms, entrance hall, dining room, and verandah cafe.

Fonds also consists of papers which concern May Fluhmann's music career and her research for her book Second-In-Command: A biography of Captain Francis Crozier, 1976. They are divided into three series including music career, original; Arctic research, original, volumes 1-3; Crozier research, original and photocopy. Microfilmed material consists of letterbooks, 1958-1967 of Dr. R.J. Cyriax letters to Miss Fluhmann and Cyriax articles, 1942-1964. Microfilmed material is located on microfilm reel M-1600.

Fluhmann, May, 1906-1985 : May Fluhmann, musician and author, was born in 1906 at Roberval, Que., the daughter of a physician of Swiss origin. She graduated from the Juliard School of Music in New York in 1929 and received a diploma in music from McGill in 1934. She taught music and participated in many McGill concerts and those in various churches from 1929 to 1936. From 1937 to 1942 she was a professional member of the Montreal Orchestra playing the cello and the typhani. She was one of the first women to professionally play the drums. When the Orchestra closed in 1942 due to the War, Miss Fluhmann became a telegrapher.

Miss Fluhmann had many interests including photography and bird watching. She became quite interested in Arctic research and carried on extensive correspondence with Dr. Richard J. Cyriax and E.G.A. Jones of England concerning polar exploration. She conducted research on her own on Captain Crozier who succeeded Captain John Franklin in 1847. She worked in Britain and Canada to write the book Second-in-Command: A biography of Captain Francis Crozier, 1976.
