5 cm of textual records.Langue du document :anglaisPortée et contenu :Fonds consists of photographic material, 1910-1930, depicting Tom Thomson, at various stages of his life including the artist as a young boy beside a canoe, and an older Thomson shaving at camp, Grand Lake, Ontario; Thomson's parents, John and Margaret (Matheson) and other individuals including David Milne. The Fonds also includes a print by an unknown artist of Tom Thomson's old studio; a photograph of a work by Tom Thomson entitled Pine Island; a photograph of a painting by Tom Thomson entitled The Drive.
Fonds consists of correspondence from relatives, friends and acquaintances of Tom Thomson to Blodwen Davies containing biographical information concerning Thomson and relating to Davies' writing about him; manuscripts, including notes by Arthur Lismer and Blodwen Davies and typescript. Tom Thomson's Sketch Book by Davies and typescript by S.E. Read; clippings; and miscellaneous material relating to Thomson.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Davies, Blodwen, 1897-1966 : Blodwen Davies, author and journalist, was born in Longueuil, Québec, but spent most of her life near Toronto where she pursued her interest in Canadian art, history and folklore. She was the author of a number of travel books and studies of historical figures. She wrote "A Study of Tom Thomson: a story of a man who looked for beauty and for truth in the wilderness", 1935, and in the last years before her death, worked on a never-completed biography of David Milne.Information additionnelle :Note générale :Received in 1937 and 1973 from Blodwen Davies.Note sur l'emplacement des originaux :Photographs (acc. number 1962-125): The images were loaned to the National Archives of Canada and copied.
