Fonds also consists of photographic material which depicts members of the 1926 medicine class, Queens's University, Kingston, Ontario; Rynard meeting Queen Elizabeth II, Orillia, Ontario, 1959; John F. Kennedy addressing the House of Commons, Ottawa, Ontario; scenes from the political career of Dr. P.B. Rynard, M.P. for Simcoe North, Ontario.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Rynard, Philip Bernard, 1897-1980 : Philip Bernard Rynard, physician, member of Parliament, was born in 1897 at Udora, Ont., and graduated in medicine in 1926 from Queen's University Kingston, Ontario. For thirty years he was a Medical Health Officer for the province of Ontario and practised medicine in Orillia where he established a medical clinic.
In 1953 Rynard ran unsuccessfully as a federal Progressive Conservative candidate for Simcoe North. He was elected member of Parliament for the first time in the general election, June 10, 1957. Re-elected in the next seven general elections, Rynard retired from politics in 1979. Rynard won national and international acclaim in the medical field and was a champion of issues relating to the health and welfare of citizens, particulary the elderly, during his years as Member of Parliament.
