Fonds consists of four scrapbooks, 1947-1949, containing programmes, clippings and photographs relating to The Stage Society of Ottawa.

Fonds also consists of photographs, 1948, which depict scenes relating to the Stage Society, Ottawa, particularly to its founder H. Parker; H. Parker posing with the portrait of himself painted by Robert Hyndman.

Also included is a portrait of Hugh Parker, 1946-1948, painted by Robert Hyndman and a portrait, ca. 1893, of Mrs. John MacDonald, wife of Senator John Parker and relative of Margaret Parker, painted by John Wycliffe Lowes Forster.

Parker, Hugh, 1911- : Hugh Parker, born in 1911 in England, was stationed during W.W. II in Victoria, B.C. where he produced and directed the R.A.F. "Smile Show" which toured the province and the western United States. He also wrote and directed Victoria's centennial show. Although he was posted back to England in 1944, he returned to Canada and settled in Ottawa in 1946. After working with the Ottawa Drama League, Hugh Parker founded the first professional theatre in Ottawa, The Stage Society, which performed largely at LaSalle Academy.

Textual records and photographs were received in 1978-1979 from Hugh Parker o Guelph, Ont. through Amelia Hall of Toronto, Ont.
Paintings were acquired from Michael Curry of Toronto, great-grandson of Mrs. John McDonald and relative of Margaret Parker, née Curry.
