Campbell, Alexander Colin, 1857-1943 : Alexander C. Campbell, born in Shannonville, Ont., (Canada West), received his early education in Toronto and Montreal. He entered newspaper work as a reporter on the Montreal Gazette in 1878, and joined the Toronto Globe in 1880, serving as its Press Gallery representative until 1891. Between 1891 and 1894 he represented the Toronto Mail, the Toronto World and the Winnipeg Free Press in the Gallery. In 1894 he was appointed to the staff of official reporters of Debates in the House of Commons, becoming associate editor of Debates in 1917, editor in 1919. He retired in 1926.

Mr. Campbell was married to Jerusha Leggo, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Christopher Leggo, Ottawa. He was one of the founders of the Civil Service Association and served as its president. He was also a president of the Arts, and Letters Club, the Canadian Authors' Association, Ottawa Branch and the Horticultural Society.
