Buchanan, prepared jointly by the University of Western Ontario Regional Collection and the National Archives of Canada from the original manuscript in the possession of E.V. Buchanan. The reminiscences cover a wide range of areas and incidents including childhood, education, engineering work in Scotland and Canada, recreation, medicine, Pinery Provincial Park, London and Port Stanley Railway, London Health Association, atomic energy, and Isotopes Products Limited of Oakville.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Buchanan, Edward V., 1887-1987 : Edward Buchanan was born in 1887 at Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland. In 1902 he enrolled at the Glasgow and West of Scotland Technical College which later became the University of Strathclyde. Upon graduation Buchanan worked as an electrical engineer in Scotland until the spring of 1910 when he emigrated to Canada to begin an illustrious career in public utilities engineering. After very brief work stays in Toronto and Niagara Falls, he moved to London, Ont. where he was to spend the rest of his professional life with Ontario Hydro and the London Public Utilities Commission of which he became General manager at age 27.
Edward Buchanan has received many awards, including an honorary Doctorate from the University of Western Ontario, for his work in engineering, management and community affairs.
