Fonds consists of correspondence, factum and judgements of the Supreme Court of Canada, newspaper clippings, telegrams and bulletins from Bernard Wolf, a litigant in the case of Noble and Wolf v. Alley [1951] S.C.R. 64, which struck down restrictive racial covenants in property transactions in Canada.

Wolf, Bernard, 1890-1987 : Bernard Wolf, a London, Ont. businessman, purchased a beachfront property at the Beach O'Pines resort on Lake Huron near Grand Bend, Ont. from Annie Maud Noble in 1948. A covenant in the original deed of sale, dated 1933, declared that property at the Beach O'Pines could not be sold to anyone of Jewish, Hebrew, Semitic, Negro or coloured race or blood. Edward Richmond, solicitor for Bernard Wolf asked Mrs. Noble's solicitors to get a court order declaring the covenant void. Mr. Justice W.F. Schroeder of the Supreme Court of Ontario ruled that the covenant was valid and enforceable.

John Cartwright, before his appointment to the Supreme Court of Canada appealed the case to the Court of Appeal for Ontario, where the case was dismissed. In the Supreme Court of Canada, the covenant was struck down, on the grounds that proof of a person's membership in a racial group was too difficult to determine and not on the grounds of public policy.
