16 photographs b&w and col.Langue du document :anglaisPortée et contenu :Fonds consists of an interview (original, 16 pages) by John Condit with Donald MacLaren about Canadian aviation during the 1920s and 1930s. The interview was the basis for an article published August 27, 1977, in Weekend Magazine. Photographic material depicts events in the career of Donald R. McLaren as pilot in the RFC/RAF during World War One and as pilot and executive with Pacific Airways, Western Canada Airways, and Canadian Airways after the war; and groups of prominent Canadian aviators at various reunions, 1948 and 1973.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :MacLaren, Donald Roderick, b. 1893 : Donald MacLaren, aviator, was educated at Western Canada College and McGill University. He was a pilot in the Royal Flying Corps during World War I. He founded Pacific Airways in the 1920s, which was absorbed in 1928 by Canadian Airways. In 1937, he signed on as Trans-Canada Airline's first employee, and retired in 1958 as executive assistant to the president.
