Fonds consists of official and personal documents, originals, 1935-1947, and photocopies, 1975; diplomatic, personal and business correspondence, and notes concerning his war damage claims against Germany and the return of the Polish art treasures, 1921-1944; diplomatic functions, 1939-1944; speeches, reports, and articles, 1939-1959; news clippings, originals, n.d., 1949-1961, and photocopies, 1961.

Fonds also contains photographs of Wiktor Podoski; a group photo including General Wladyslaw Sikorski; a portrait of Gen. Sikorski; and a photo of the War Memorial, Ottawa, Ont., ca. 1942- ca. 1946.

Podoski, Wiktor, 1895-1960 : Wiktor Podoski was born in Volhynia, Poland. He entered the Polish diplomatic service in 1925. In Ottawa he served as Consul-General, 1939-1944. Between 1945 and his death, he worked briefly in the Canada Department of Labour, and then he became an importer of wines and spirits for embassies in Ottawa. In his private life he was a leader of Ottawa's Polish Canadian community and worked for the safe return to Poland in 1961 of Polish art treasures deposited in Canada at the beginning of World War II.

Received in 1975 from his daughter, Cecylia Podoski of Ottawa, Ont.
