Fonds consists of case files of correspondence, notes, briefs, and decisions of arbitration boards, and relating to Quaife's work as an arbitrator for the Canadian Paperworkers Union, the Sheet Metal Workers International Association and other unions mainly in Eastern Ontario; general files relating to the Kingston and District Labour Council, the office and Professional Employees Union, the Sheet Metal Workers International Association and CLC shop steward training courses.

The fonds also includes photographic material depicting the following: Toronto District Labour Council welcoming Executive Council American federation of Labour, 1949; Central Canada Conference of Federation Labour Union's, AFL, Toronto, 1954; United Steelworkers, Negociating Committee, general steelwares, Toronto, 1940's, Domtar packaging activities, Trenton, Ontario, 1981. Photos are by Goodhall's Photographers, Webb Photo Service, Panoramic Canada Company, and Bison Studio.

Quaife, Frank, 1911-1984 : Frank Quaife, labour leader, was born in England and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1920 and in 1924 began his apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker in Toronto. During the early 1940s, Quaife worked in the General Steelwares plant in Toronto and was part of the Steelworkers Organizing Committee (SWOC) drive to organize the factory. Quaife became a fulltime organizer for SWOC and in 1944 moved to London, Ont. where he was active in organizing steelworkers in that area. In February 1947, Quaife became an organizer for the American Federation of Labor, and in 1956 became an employee of the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC).

Moving to Kingston in 1956, Quaife became the CLC representative for Eastern Ontario. Quaife also served as an officer of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local 269 in Kingston from 1958 until 1975. In 1972, Quaife was appointed to the Board of Governors of St. Lawrence College, a position he held until his death in 1984.
