This interview with an unidentified Doukhobor woman is preceded by outdoor scenery, a school, power lines, power poles and a Cominco, Trail B.C. truck. The woman explains she is unhappy in Canada because she wants to have freedom of religion. Another woman says she is unhappy because she is forced to send her children to a "state school". She says the Doukhobors do not have complete religious freedom because their spiritual guide is not with them. A farmer talks about 30 years of living in Canada. He refers to the seizure of Doukhobor land by the federal government early in the 20th century and the death of Doukhobor leader Peter Verigin in 1924. An elderly man, speaking Russian, talks about the paramount importance of religious freedom. There is English translation. Also shown are the following: Doukhobor children at play; the reporter standing on a road with some Doukhobor women and children; close-ups of children; families, buildings and a sign which reads "The land cannot be bought or sold, or taxes collected. The land is the gift of God by the birthright inheritance of man." This sign is handwritten in English and Russian. Several people recall their personal experiences with violence associated with the Doukhobors. Two men talk about bomb explosions. Another man talks about almost being "swept away" by such a blast.
