Fonds consists of five files pertaining to Mrs. Craig's reminiscences. These reminiscences were written in the 1920s and 1930s and presented as a gift to her childeren. They relate the day-to-day experiences of her "happy childhood" in Kingston and North Gower in the 1850s and 1860s and the satisfaction and challenge in raising a family of nine children at the turn of the century. It should be noted that file no. 5 reports the claim by the O'Loughlin's maid that she had once concealed William Lyon Mackenzie from the authorities.

Photographic material consists of tintype portraits of an unidentified man and woman, Ireland; carte-de-visit portrait taken by Sheldon & Davis of Grace (O'Loughlin) Craig.

Craig, Grace Clara, 1856-1939 : Grace Clara Craig (née O'Loughlin) was born on 22 September 1856 in Kingston, Ont. where she received her public school education. Her father, Anthony Joseph O'Loughlin, and mother, Rebecca Myles, were born in the City of Limerick, Ireland. They came to Canada in 1847 and subsequently settled in Kingston. Anthony O'Loughlin worked as Librarian in the City Public Library in Kingston. After being ordained in the Anglican Church he later served as chaplain in the Kingston Penitentiary and held a charge between 1872 and his death in 1884 in North Gower, Ont.

Grace Clara O'Loughlin married James Craig of North Gower in 1878. They had nine children, one of whom Muriel (b. 1899), made her mother's reminiscences available to the Public Archives for photoduplication. Mrs. Craig died in 1939.
