Fonds consists of a book of poetry by Dockalek, entitled Slezské Slzy, 1941, and English translation of his play "The Miners", n.d., 2 issues of Zpravodaj (Daily News of the Czechoslovak Contingent in the Middle East), 1941, two issues of Bobrik, 1946, 1947, as well as clippings of a history of Canada by Dockalek, which appeared in Nase Hlasy during the early 1970s, and the program of the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the liberation of Czechoslovakia, held in Dresden, Ontario, in 1948.

Fonds also consists of photographs, 1946-1965, depicting Eva and Otto Pavlenek in Czech national dress; Hana and Eva Dockalek and Professor Venceslan Hlavaty of the Czechoslovak Society for Arts and Science; Czech language school and Sokol Gymnastic Organization of Masaryk Memorial Institute, Toronto, Ont.; Moravian Slovensk Dance Group, 1964 or 1965.

Dockalek, Jan, 1901-1980 : Jan Dockalek, editor, poet, dramatist, born in Kromeraz, Czechoslovakia, was a newspaper reporter in his homeland. In 1940 he fled to Turkey where he joined the Czechoslovak Contingent of the British Army in the Middle East. He served with the Contingent until after Rommel's defeat in Africa, when the unit was taken to England. Here he became a leading officer in the Czechoslovak Red Cross. He remained in England until 1946 when he was named delegate of the Czechoslovak Red Cross with the Canadian Red Cross, with headquarters in Toronto.

When the communists came to power in Czechoslovakia in 1948, he requested and was granted asylum in Canada. He was active in the Czech community in Canada and passed away on January 1, 1980.
